Hikâye Yarı Türk Yarı Fransız olan Hector Berlioz’un gazetede gördüğü ilginç bir ilanla başlıyor. “HAYATIMI SATIYORUM! 25 yaşında, iyi eğitimli, iki yabancı dil bilen sağlıklı genç, geri kalanını temin edebilmek amacıyla hayatının bir bölümünü satıyor. Bu ilan kitabın arka kapağında da yer aldığından, yazar ilk sayfadan dikkatleri üzerine kolaylıkla topluyor. İlk bölüm, Hector Berlioz’un ilanın sahibine ulaşmasıyla başlayan hikâyede ana karakterlerimiz bizleri ikinci bölümde karşılıyor aslında. Kendi dediğine göre pek de aydın olmayan öğrencilerin bulunduğu bir üniversitede psikoloji bölümü profesörü olarak eğitim veren psikanalist Olcayto Fişek ve uyuduğunda rüyalarında tıpkı kendi gibi birinin daha yaşadığını düşünen Şevket Hakan Tunçel kitabımızın iki ana kahramanı ve bu ikiliyi bir araya getiren şey Hector Berlioz. Bu kesişmenin sebebi ise bizlere kitabın ana konusunu veriyor.

Kitabın kapağında da belirtildiği gibi psiko-absürd romantik komedi türünde yazılan hikâye örgüsü başta karmaşık gelse de hikâyenin dördüncü bölümünden sonrası olay örgüsünü anlamada ve bağlamları kurmada bize oldukça yardımcı oluyor. Profesörümüz Olcayto Fişek, Şevket Bey’in rüyaları sırasında beyin dalgalarını kontrol ederek ve Şevket Bey’in ismini kendi verdiği P330 dalgasını uyku sırasında koruyarak Şevket Bey’in sorularına cevap bulmasında yardımcı oluyor.

Tatlı Rüyalar kitabı, okuyucunun kitabın içindeki akademik terimlere karşı ilgisini arttıracak bir yanı var. Günlük dilde yazılmış fakat aralara sıkıştırılmış akademik bilgiler de okuyucuya doyum veriyor. Hikaye örgüsü monologdan ziyade diyaloglardan oluştuğundan okuyucu sıkmaktan bir hayli uzak. Aynı şekilde hikaye içinde geçen ortamlar ve ögeler betimlemeler açısından yeterliliğiyle okuyucuyu bağlama yaklaştırıyor.

The story begins with an interesting advertisement that Hector Berlioz, who is Half Turkish, Half French, saw in the newspaper. “I SELL MY LIFE! A healthy 25-year-old, well-educated, bilingual young man sells a part of his life to buy the rest. Those who are interested can make an appointment by contacting the phone number below. (Canıgüz, 2019: 7)

Since this advertisement is also on the back cover of the book, the author easily draws attention from the first page. The first part of the story begins with Hector Berlioz reaching the owner of the advertisement, and our main characters greet us in the second part. Olcayto Fişek, a psychoanalyst who teaches as a professor of psychology at a university where there are not very enlightened students, and Şevket Hakan Tunçel, who thinks that there is another person just like him in his dreams when he sleeps, are the two main protagonists of our book and what brings these two together is Hector Berlioz. The reason for this intersection gives us the main theme of the book.

As stated on the cover of the book, although the plot of the story, written in the psycho-absurd romantic comedy genre, may seem complicated at first, it helps us a lot in understanding the plot and establishing the contexts after the fourth part of the story. Our professor, Olcayto Fişek, helps Şevket Bey find answers to his questions by controlling his brain waves during his dreams and preserving the P330 wave, which Şevket Bey gave his name, during sleep.

Sweet Dreams has something that will raise the reader's interest in the academic terms in the book. Academic information written in everyday language but compressed in between also gives satisfaction to the reader. Since the plot consists of dialogues rather than monologues, the reader is far from boring. Likewise, the environments and elements in the story bring the reader closer to the context with their adequacy in terms of descriptions.
